odd and wonderful

i made this sticker about a year ago. i can't remember any particular inspiration, except that i have occasionally felt like i was waiting for some sort of sign, so i thought it might be helpful to someone. i made it on a big sticker, to post in a public place.

then i forgot about it, until a week or so ago when i was reading post secret and came across the secret shown below. i was instantly intrigued because, of course, not only is the message similar, but the art is remarkably related as well. so i wondered, could someone have been inspired by my sticker? this postcard was a very popular one on post secret. it has been included in a promotional video and possibly a book, and gotten lots of responses from people who were inspired to take action. if it was catalyzed by my sticker, this was a thrilling development. i did some research, but couldn't learn much.

and then, when i was unpacking, i found this sticker. i never stuck it up anywhere!

(of course, one not so strange possibility is that the card was posted a long time ago, and i saw it and was unconsciously influenced before i made my sticker. i don't know about that, though, because the earliest reference i can find to this post secret dates to january of this year, and besides, the type of pattern featured in both images (called phyllotaxis) is one that i have been using a lot in my art for quite a while.
