we went to this thing last night. pittsburgh is lucky to have one of the finest tribal fusion belly dance troupes anywhere, and their new thing is vaudeville style stuff. overall, it was a pretty cool event, with costumey jazz bands, dancers and an aerialist. i also thought that the carnival idea was a nice way to slightly involve the audience--they suggested dressing up, and there were vendors and so on, so the spectators got to feel like a part of the event without having to really do much. actually the performances were kind of mixed, but some of them were really creative, the overall energy was fun, and zafira never gets old. the carnival kind of made me wish i could get back into dancing, but since i can't really afford a $10 per hour hobby right now, it was nice to be a part of the audience.
